Salary CI $67,260 – CI $88,248 per annum
The post-holder will be responsible for fostering students' development by creating a stimulating learning environment that promotes their physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, cultural, and creative skills while striving to maximize the achievement and potential of all learners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- The post holder will provide an instructional base and professional expertise to improve the current Mathematics provision in Government primary Schools. The post holder will promote and build a love of mathematics within students, staff and parents. To achieve these goals through high quality teaching of mathematics, purposeful planning and development of the mathematics curriculum and enrichment, and delivering meaningful Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for staff.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
The post holder must possess;
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in education or other relevant area from an accredited university is required; a specialization in Mathematics is preferred
- Professional teaching qualification from a recognized institution/authority required
- Experience of leading and supporting the delivery of high-quality mathematics instruction in a primary setting
- A track record of successful impact as a leader of mathematics
- Evidence of involvement in transformational change within mathematics
- Evidence of successful, sustained development of other primary settings in mathematics outside of own setting
- Experience of working in primary intervention work
Skills and Characteristics
- To be able to demonstrate high quality teaching
- To be able to analyse and review primary math provision and to provide feedback through high quality reports
- To be able to design diagnostic resources to identify gaps in pupils’ understanding of mathematics in order to develop intervention strategies that bring about rapid improvement
- Willing to teach, and demonstrate teaching, including extended periods where necessary
- Able to work flexibly and under pressure
- Able to provide clear strategies for improvement, following analysis/review of data and/or performance
- High level interpersonal skills
- To show confidence when working with a wide range of stakeholders
- To demonstrate excellent pedagogical ICT proficiency
The post holder may be required to undertake further training in mathematics education as required by the Department of Education Services.
The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
