General
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Teacher to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to inspire pupils through high-quality music education while contributing to a thriving extracurricular programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Development
· Deliver engaging and effective music lessons across the 11 – 18 age range in line with the English national curriculum for Key Stage 3, IGCSE, BTEC, and IBDP Music courses, ensuring pupils reach their full potential.
· Develop and implement creative lesson plans that integrate music technology to enhance learning.
· Monitor and report on pupil progress in line with department and school policies, maintaining strong communication with parents.
· Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging pupils to develop their confidence and skills.
· Take on pastoral tutor responsibilities, ensuring the well-being and development of students.
· Support the school community by supervising pupils during unstructured time, covering for absent colleagues, and invigilating exams as needed.
· Provide mentorship and collaborative support to local teaching staff, sharing insights into British teaching methodologies and approaches in areas such as pupil assessment, differentiated instruction, and classroom management.
· Actively participate in and lead professional development workshops for colleagues, focusing on UK education standards, including current trends and innovative practices within the British education system. Share and model strategies that bridge the British and local curricula, fostering an inclusive environment that integrates the strengths of both systems.
· Assist with ensuring that the school's teaching approaches and standards are consistent with UK expectations, contributing to any UK accreditation processes, and sharing insights on how the school can align with or exceed those standards.
· Play a role in engaging with parents, particularly those familiar with the British educational system, helping them understand how their child’s learning journey aligns with British expectations.
Extracurricular Activities
- Lead and rehearse school choirs, orchestras, and instrumental ensembles, preparing pupils for performances and competitions.
- Organise and participate in school concerts, recitals, and musical events, enriching the school’s artistic culture.
Professional Development
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in music education and technology, integrating innovative approaches into teaching.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the wider school community.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with colleagues in Music, Art, Drama, and Film to foster a collaborative and enriching arts programme.
Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and staff, ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment.
A full commitment to school life and ongoing professional development is expected.
In addition to teaching duties, the successful candidate will a have a pastoral role and be a tutor to a group of Senior School pupils. Tutoring is a significant part of a teacher’s responsibilities at St. Paul’s, both in terms of time devoted to it and its contribution towards the successful running of the school. Participation in enrichment clubs and societies will also be expected.

This post is full time. Staff are expected to be in school from 7.30am to 4:00pm during term time. With one hour for lunch. In addition to normal working hours teaching staff will need to attend school meetings and functions that are held outside these times. The successful applicant is expected to work the hours that are necessary to fulfil their responsibilities and meet the needs of the school.
