We are seeking to appoint an innovative and inspirational teacher to join our excellent Computing and IT curriculum area as a Lecturer in Computing and IT on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.) The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, model the highest standards and bring best practice to share within the department and the College. The Computing and IT department consists of A Level and Level 2 and 3 vocational qualifications. Students within the department thrive as a result of highly supportive, enthusiastic and driven staff who enable them to progress onto courses within the College, university or into employment.
There is a remunerated position of responsibility/co-ordinator available for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will also be required to support College Open Events and at times, local recruitment events, which may also require very occasional evening and weekend work. This is a rewarding role, and the successful applicant will have a direct impact on our students and their future life prospects.
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role:
As our Lecturer in Computing and IT, you will deliver exceptional teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring high levels of quality and student satisfaction, excellent outcomes and strong progression.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Computing and IT will include:
· Deliver ambitious, inspiring and stimulating teaching and learning.
· Contribute to subject-related documentation such as schemes of work, assessment plans, assessments and are high quality, fit for purpose and regularly updated.
· Ensure that regular testing and/or other assessment practice takes place in line with college guidelines and meeting any deadlines imposed by awarding organisations.
· Use data effectively to identify and monitor student progress who are at risk of underachieving.
· Ensure that the Cause for Concern process is used effectively ensuring early intervention as required to allow students to make the very best progress.
· Ensure that student progress is tracked effectively.
· Monitor, analyse and respond effectively to examination data, including examination performance in subject taught, to implement the necessary interventions and support to drive rates of progress.
· Support the preparation for moderation and/or IV process for courses taught in the Curriculum Area (where appropriate).
· Encourage student feedback to that enhances learning and the student experience.
· Develop and facilitate meaningful enrichment opportunities for students, including leading or supporting educational visits.
· Support the engagement and forging of links with schools, Higher Education representatives and employers that supports strong student progression.
· Demonstrate an awareness and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion as well as safeguarding.
As our Lecturer in Computing and IT, you’ll ideally have:
· A degree level qualification.
· A teaching qualification relevant to post-16 education (or the willingness to undertake such qualification).
· The experience and ability to successfully teach a subject in the Curriculum Area.
· The ability to analyse data to inform decision making and drive improvements in outcomes.
· A commitment to innovation, development and continuous improvement.
· A commitment to developing and ensuring high standards in all areas of work.
· A creative and collaborative approach to problem solving.
· The ability to prioritise effectively and be well organised.
· IT and administrative proficiency.
· A good understanding of the internal and external assessment and verification processes and procedures (for subjects with a vocational qualification).
