The ometer acts as a class meter reading on a debate question, students vote by clicking agree or disagree button and the needle will move with each vote till the last one which will show the class average and a discussion can follow. Use the class voter to carry out a class poll on their opinions to a question. Work well when comparing who they think is the most important person. The shoot out works by splitting the class into teams. Ask the students questions and if they get it right they can press shoot button and keep score of the item that was shot. Students loved this task. The plenary activities are all different version of the same task.

A lesson that forms part of a SOW for a three year GCSE for AQA America 1920 - 1973 Opportunity and inequality. This lesson looks at women in the 1920’s and investigate how far women;s lives changed in the 1920s. Students investigate flappers, the anti-flirt club etc to evaluate the changes. There is a GCSE question to practice interpretations skills, there are sentence starters provided to help the those who struggle to start a question but the lesson include challenge tasks to stretch the top end as well.

There is over a 150 medicine key words, events, people, cards based on the history of medicine GCSE topic. These can printed and laminated. When printing choose to print 8 pages on one page as they they are a better size for tasks. These can then be used for a multitude of tasks, such as timing them into putting them into a time periods. I did this every so often after a couple of times, the time it took was halved. They can also be used for class game of pictionary where they have to choose one at random and describe or draw it for the class to guess. Placing them on the tables and then with whiteboard pens making links between different people and events or group them into different factors such as war, communication government etc. AFL task where the table has to sort them into those they can explain and the ones that they struggle with.

A great way to engage students into a lesson with this as a starter. Change the picture and it will slowly move the spotlight around the picture only revealing a bit at a time and students need to work out what it is showing and how it may link to the lesson. Can have this working as students walk in as it will keep going until moved to the next slide. For history this is great for source analysis and getting students to pick out key details. To change the picture all you need to do is click on the black object send to back then add new picture and bring it foward again.

A good activity to get students to recap their topic. Give students 10 minutes per section first 5 they write down everything they can remember, 2 minutes to share with partner and 3 to check their books. They repeat this for all the sections.
