The lesson includes a powerpoint presentation covering the learning objectives below. There are 4 Success criteria exam questions as well as additional exam questions to test knowledge. Starter slides are included and I’ve added ones you can print as hidden slides on the powerpoint. A fun practical activity is also included to help students model meiosis. Questions are included as a 5 Word documents and all the answers are included on the powerpoint as well. This lesson could easily be stretched over two lessons. LOs: • Complete diagrams showing the chromosome content of cells after the first and second meiotic division, when given the chromosome content of the parent cell. • Explain the different outcomes of meiosis and mitosis. • Recognise where meiosis occurs given information about unfamiliar life cycles. • Explain how crossing over, independent segregation and random fertilisation lead to genetic variation within a species.
